designsgirl loves place cards.

Here, for a photo shoot, decorative place cards with calligraphy and lots of sparkling brooches and silver and patterned ephemera take center stage.

designsgirl is always on the lookout for cool place card holders. I found these unique vintage door knob place card holders at Old Glory Antiques in Lone Tree, Colorado. 

Owner Holly Kuhn owns Old Glory Antiques in both the Denver area and in the antique mecca of Round Top, Texas.

Here is designsgirl's first design from her new Pom Pom Love hand illustrated place card collection.

Each card comes with a handmade pom pom made of fabulous yarns.

place cards no. 10: "pretty weeds"

 
I love the look of natural things serving as the backdrop for place cards and table decoration.

So when I go for a walk in our neighborhood, I am really out for a scavenger hunt- looking for floral treasures to use as styling props. 

This giant, diaphanous dandelion caught my attention and, happily, it remained intact until we returned home.

Textured floral stickers are an easy way to add elegance to a place card. These, from K&Company, are so beautiful that they look like dried flowers impressed into the paper.

Add calligraphy lettering in a deep violet and viola- a floral masterpiece for the table.

Festive place cards with colorful washi tape and buttons make a delightful table accoutrement.

place cards no. 6: "jeweled crown"

There is something about crowns.

To give the bride and groom top billing at the reception, place jeweled crowns atop their place cards and let them shine in all of their newly-wedded glory.

North Carolina photographer Amanda Churchill has the most beautiful style and designsgirl was thrilled to be asked to contribute to her recent wedding photo shoot.

Amanda gave me carte blanche to create whatever my mind could conjure with the parameters of a neutral palette and found objects.

Here, I applied dried flowers and stitched golden rye sprigs and leucadendron leaves to ivory cards and added calligraphy. Simply natural.

For a rustic theme, pick field grasses and slip through different size hole punches. Add bright lettering and you have a simply lovely place card.

With so many fabulous decorative notions available today, the sky's the limit when creating the perfect place card.

Here, Anthropologie fabric push pins are an easy and colorful way to add stylish personality.

tomoko no. 2

designsgirl was pleased that client Tomoko Kanamitsu asked her to hand letter the reception place cards as well as Tomoko's wedding invitation envelopes.

This particular paper was a dream on which to write.

Napkin rings can be the perfect place card stand.

These metal bird napkin rings from Z Gallerie serve as a befitting base for a nature-inspired setting with a fresh Ponderosa pine branch from our yard.
