Delightful guests and a surprise appearance from Golden Retriever Rescue volunteers Deb and Rob and their beautiful 9-year old Golden Retriever Owen made this a swell evening.

My sincere gratitude to Mia and her staff and to paperswell artist Lana Frankel who was also in attendance.

paperswell artist: gus & ruby letterpress

designsgirl was introduced to the remarkably talented New Hampshire designers Samantha Finegan and Whitney Swaffield of Gus & Ruby Letterpress when she was commissioned to do wedding calligraphy for several of their bridal clients as well as for magazine wedding features.

I was immediately drawn to Samantha's and Whitney's love of animals as well as their gorgeous stationery designs. Their business namesake is based on their beloved dogs Gus and Ruby and it was through their canine companions that they formed the business alliance that ultimately led to the creation of their Portsmouth stationer.

Gus & Ruby Letterpress work has been showcased in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine and other fashionable industry publications and design blogs.

paperswell artist: betsy marr

I was introduced to Betsy Marr when I was commissioned to do calligraphy for her and her husband Kevin's 2012 Beaver Creek Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch wedding.

It was at this time that the dynamic husband and wife publishing team launched Reign magazine and its sister wedding publication Aisle Style and became an immediate tour de force in Denver and the state of Colorado. Betsy captures the dynamic Denver scene-as well as global travel and cultural happenings- with sophisticated style in one of most beautiful magazines in the country.

 

paperswell artist: charlotte noruzi

This is the first in a series of profiles of the talented artists gracing the pages of the latest edition of paperswell magazine. It is with great privilege to introduce New York City multidisciplinary artist Charlotte Noruzi.

Charlotte's background is impressive and wide-ranging. She is a mixed media artist, painter, art director, designer, illustrator, clothes maker and author whose clients include Harper Collins, Steve Madden, and St. Martin Press.

I first discovered Charlotte's fabulous illustrations in the book The Art of Promotion by Lisa Cyr in 2003. Charlotte's  self-promotional direct mail pieces- based on the Bridget Jones movie- were showcased and I was infatuated;  not only with Charlotte's creativity but with her whimsical yet sophisticated illustrations and her fabulous hand lettering.

Today, Charlotte publishes through her own company called Watermelon Press through which she has recently written two new books and she makes gorgeous clothing sold through her line called WeaveClothArt.

Charlotte is a remarkably talented lady and I am thrilled to share her work with you.

This beautiful flower-themed edition showcases the talents of seventeen designers, publishers, letterpress lovelies, bookmakers, stationers, illustrators, shop owners, and mixed media artists.  

All proceeds from magazine sales go directly to paperswell's charity- the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies of Arvada, Colorado.

paperswell and sweet goldens

designsgirl is putting the finishing touches on the upcoming issue of paperswell magazine and it is a lovely one.

Sixteen swell artists are featured in this "Flowers/Ladies/Art" edition and, of course, our girls Garner and Gibson always steal the show since the magazine is done for them and their canine brethren.

All paperswell proceeds go directly to the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies in Golden, Colorado.

Laura and I are just a week away from publishing the second issue of our beautiful annual art specialty publication paperswell: modern design ideas for paper goods & weddings.

This edition features our favorite books on weddings, design, entertaining and flowers with our four dogs as lovely models; a fabulous guest artist and lots of gorgeous flowers on each page.

Books. Flowers. Dogs. This is our idea of editorial heaven and that is why this issue was particularly enjoyable to create.
