Sometimes I wish to make a wrapped package particularly personal and cover a gift with images that I know the recipient loves- a favorite artist or flower- for example.

One of my favorite books is "Century Girl: 100 Years in the Life of Doris Eaton Travis/Last Living Star of the Ziegfeld Follies."
Author Lauren Redniss is a Pulitzer prize winning writer and has created one of the most creative chronicles of a person's life by combining cut-out photographs and animated illustrations.
Now that my studio is filling up with "ladies"- in my lamps, my vases, my artwork- I began to think that a compilation of interesting "ladies" would make its way onto the designsgirl blog.

Unsolicited mail is usually uninspiring and wasteful but here is the most beautiful mailer I have ever seen- a huge fold-out poster announcing the new Gramery Park Boutique Hotel in New York.
The hand-drawn map on the back of the poster with the exquisite typefaces make this piece of mail an unexpected treasure.
