designsgirl has had the pleasure to work with Kelley Lee Gin, owner of the grand Los Angeles event planning firm Picture Perfect Events for several years. It was a privilege to provide calligraphy for Kelley's beautiful company emblem designed by Tiselle.

I saved my money to buy silhouette gouache paintings of my husband and me by a well-known artist and then I realized- 'I am an artist; why don't I create these myself?'

So I did so with the help of Rob Barnes of Foils + Dies Studio in Denver who stamped them in metallic gold. Unfortunately, I learned to smooth the outline edges after I printed them but they are swell just the same.

designsgirl is completely infatuated with the United Kingdom company called Surface View.

Surface View can reproduce any image, in almost any size, on canvas, paper and tile.

It also has a vast online catalog of images from which to select and has usage agreements with several museums, including London's National Gallery.

watercolor and calligraphy

designsgirl has had the privilege to work with New Jersey resident Allison Hughes on two special projects-  one for her sister's birthday celebration and this one for her husband's Christmas gift.

Allison purchased a MOMA frame with rotating glass panels and asked that I create watercolor sheets with hand lettering of their vows to place in each panel.

"Typology" is one of the wedding invitation designs I created exclusively for Bella Figura.

As designers, we design many pieces for each suite - coasters, postage stamps, save the date announcements, envelopes, response cards, direction cards, and program covers like this "Typology" custom cover.

i work for food

My husband and I are part of a swell gourmet club made up of wonderful people who love food and wine and who love to share their impassioned knowledge with others.

designsgirl created logos to say thank you to the founders for including us rookie foodies in the club as we enjoyed beef short ribs slow roasted in an ancho chili sauce served over grits; roasted duck, pea and chutney samosas, butternut squash salad with pears and stilton cheese; butternut squash risotto; olive oil pumpkin bread; and homemade raspberry cheesecake at our recent fall party.

Pure culinary ecstasy.

assignment: halloween

My friend Tasha Frye, owner of L'Arrangement in Castle Rock, is such a talented lady. Her beautiful shop and floral boutique is a must-see Denver destination, especially during the holidays.

I wish to thank Tasha for allowing me to do a Halloween photo shoot in her store for a design assignment on DIY decorative plates.

A year's worth of dream assignments awaits designsgirl as she begins her role as a lifestyle contributor for REstyleSOURCE. 

This fabulous online design center has put a beautiful new face on the "typical" city guide as it connects buyers with the most fabulous design sources and shops across the country, encouraging the practice of shopping "local".

One of designsgirl's first submissions this fall will be a DIY project with Transfer Artist Paper (TAP)- an 8th wonder of the paper goods world and whose discovery I attribute to my funky mixed media artist mother.

designsgirl's "Cascade" wedding invitation design is one of my favorites because the petals were created during an enjoyable session in my studio when I was just experimenting and drawing without any ideas in mind.

East coast writer and artist Rachael Mt. Pleasant asked designsgirl to create a blog header for her blog "Myriad Dreams" which features Rachael's love of writing, crafts and books.
