paperswell artist: lana's shop

designsgirl is known to overuse the word "lovely" but it perfectly describes illustrator and paperswell artist Lana Frankel- of Lana's Shop.

Lana is an extraordinary artist who worked on both coasts before making her home in Colorado two years ago. She served as a freelance graphic designer for Vogue magazine and her list of high profile clients is impressive. Her work can be seen at Wedding Paper Divas; her paper goods are sold on the uber-chic One Kings Lane and she was recently featured in Rue Magazine.

It has been designsgirl's pleasure to collaborate with Lana on wedding projects since she arrived in the city and I am thrilled for Lana as she plans her own wedding for this fall with her fiance Danny.

escort cards in white gouache designsgirl has enjoyed a new relationship with Kara Gordon and Charlotte Watts of Chicago's Magnificent Milestones paperie, collaborating on wedding projects and an exciting venture to be announced soon. Here, designsgirl did a modern calligraphy for bridal client Kate Taylor's escort cards with white gouache on a dark gray paper.

mail art delivered My mother and I have been creating mail art for years and pushing the limits of what the U.S. Postal Service will deliver through the mail. We have had furry bunny ears popping out of boxes; sent beautiful packages with gift wrap and ribbons and ephemera; and painted and gilded envelopes that somehow made their way to the recipient. Each post office has different restrictions but designsgirl's fabulous mail carrier Mike and postal clerk Mary have been troopers when asked to send the most challenging of packages. And they always come through.
