planning paperswell volume 2

Laura and I are already planning the second volume of our paperswell art magazine to be published in January 2013. The setting for this issue is among flowers- glorious, fragrant, exquisite flowers.  

The "Top 40" Book Club issue features our favorite art, design, floral, entertaining and wedding books, serving as a beautiful idea-generating primer for brides, book lovers and creatives.

And, one of the nation's most elegant tastemakers and wedding planners has graciously accepted our invitation to be the profiled artist. How honored and thrilled are we?

We look forward to sharing our progress.

pitbulls and posies What a wonderful experience to work with Amber Moon, proprietress of Los Angeles paper goods and floral studio Pitbulls and Posies. An architect by training-turned official paper lover, Amber asked designsgirl to provide the envelope calligraphy for a couple marrying in Greece. I knew Amber was my kind of fellow creative; she is a delight with whom to work AND she donates a portion of her proceeds to Karma Rescue, a Los Angeles-area dog shelter.

paula Through an uncannily circuitous path, designsgirl came to meet her neighbor. Paula was coordinating the printing of her son's wedding invitations through a Denver stationer. The stationer recognized my calligraphy with Smock Paper and contacted Smock to learn that I lived in Denver and passed this on to Paula who I learned is my neighbor and lives only two minutes away. Paula is one of the loveliest and most gracious people and I was so touched that she sent these exquisite flowers to say thank you for my calligraphy work. What marvelous serendipity.
